What Are You Wearing?

What are you wearing today?
We get dressed each day depending on the weather, where we’re going, and even the circumstances we’re facing. But putting on external clothing can’t help us against the spiritual battles we’re facing. We need to get dressed to fight these battles too! Which of these battles are you facing?

God equipped us with armor to fight our battles. Ephesians 6:11 tells us, “Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”

Our armor is described in Ephesians 6:14–17: “Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.”

The armor means:
Girded with truth: The truth of God’s Word encircles us and holds us together.
Breastplate of righteousness: The breastplate is worn in battle to protect our heart and vital organs. The apostle Paul tells us to protect our heart and soul.
Feet shod in preparation: Satan will attack, so be ever vigilant.
• Shield of faith: When Satan attacks, our faith acts as a shield to deflect the flaming arrows of the devil.

Helmet of salvation: The helmet protects our thoughts. The assurance of our salvation is our defense against anything Satan throws at us.
Sword of the Spirit: The sword is an offensive weapon. We use God’s Word to counter-attack Satan’s lies.

Hebrews 4:12 tells us, “The word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword.”

God’s Word is what we use to fight every battle we face. Suit up and defeat the enemy’s attacks.

Today, we dress for battle! Is part of your spiritual wardrobe missing?
