  • Hello and good Friday morning! I need your prayers Hello and good Friday morning! I need your prayers again. I am speaking tomorrow (Saturday, October 3) at First Baptist Church Swannanoa. Please pray for all the attendees and Sherry--the director-- and that my words glorify God. Thank you so much! Make it a great day!
Good Thursday morning! Words really can't express Good Thursday morning! Words really can't express the joy and gratitude I have, first to God, then to you for your prayers, and then also to the CIO group from Long's Chapel Church. Speaking at the retreat yesterday was an honor! These women are sweet and precious ... and we've decided to call them the "Silver Foxes" because they have the best hair! Yup. Hair. But what stands out more than their hair is their radiant faces that express love and all of the Fruit of the Spirit. Thank you for inviting me, Sandy! And a special thanks goes to our worship leader, Wanda, who kept technology going and my mic!
Do you know a woman whose co-workers exclude her? Do you know a woman whose co-workers exclude her? Or you observe her adversaries snickering behind her back? You suspect she might be lonely, and you think you heard her cry in the bathroom when she thought she was alone. Gossip flies through the office like bees swarming from a hive.

Are the stories truth or falsehood?

Doesn’t matter. She’s already been judged. She is ignored and not invited to join the group. She has done something bad, or said something wrong, or hasn’t lived up to others’ expectations. Or maybe she’s done none of those things. She’s just fallen victim to vicious lies.

Perhaps you’re that woman.

She, or you, wouldn’t be the first.

In Psalm 31:11–12 David said his best friends didn’t want to be seen with him anymore. No wonder David cried out that his bones hurt, his eyes were weary, and his strength was gone. His pain was made worse because he was alone, rejected, and dismissed. He felt betrayed.

David did what he was in the habit of doing. He poured out his heart to God. He said he felt broken. Without fear, he confessed his emotions and then settled into his safe place; he took refuge in the Lord. In his time of immense suffering, David made God his best friend.
We can too. Jesus, our advocate, understands betrayal. He was betrayed by Judas (Luke 22:1-6). He knows firsthand how we feel.

Betrayal.

This kind of hurt can make it difficult to open our hearts again. With God’s help, though, we can approach relationships anew. We can learn how to forgive as God brings us new, trusting relationships.

When you feel the pain of abandonment, betrayal, gossip, or fabrications, take your pain to God. He promises in Hebrews 13:5, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you.”

Jesus also promises to comfort us. Matthew 4:5 tells us, Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Co-workers, friends, and even family, may abandon or betray you. But Jesus never will.

I'd read this verse hundreds of times over the dec I'd read this verse hundreds of times over the decades. But when I needed hope, joy, and peace, God magnified Romans 15:13. It was as if I had never read it before. It became alive! So I took God at His word and believed He would provide me the hope, joy, and peace I so desperately needed.

I prayed Romans 15:13 every morning. In fact, I cupped my hands and lifted them to heaven as if asking to be filled.

I was transformed.

Do you need hope today? Maybe joy in a season of despair or peace in chaos?

Ask Him. Cup your hands and lift them to heaven. He will fill you when you believe.
Good Morning Shine Friends! I've shared this quote Good Morning Shine Friends! I've shared this quote from Elisabeth Elliot before. Many times. But it's one I love! Make it a great day!
