“Good morning” game. I’ll throw out some clues. Tr “Good morning” game. I’ll throw out some clues. Try and guess who this person is.
Imperfect. Friendship struggles. Last born baby.

Hopeful, fearful, trusting.

Bouts of anger, depression, sadness, and disobedience … and obedience.

This might give it away: Committed murder. Engaged in adultery. And repentant.
He made praise, worship, and thanksgiving a daily ritual.

David—Yep, King David.

He made mistakes and poor choices, but that didn’t make him unsuccessful. What made David successful was his humble dependence on God for his strength, wisdom, and abilities.

I was reading in 1 Samuel chapter 18 this morning and 3 times it said of David, “He behaved wisely.”

David was an intelligent man who knew how to command an army. Yet he called out to God and wept. He became angry and weary. He vented and questioned.
He loved, respected, and revered God. And although a king himself, he honored the One True King with outbursts of praise. He was a man who learned to enter the presence of God.

Acts 13:22 tells us, [God] "raised up David to be their king, concerning whom He also testified and said, “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who will do all My will.”

In David’s quest to understand the true character of God and his desire to please Him, he was branded with the perfect label — “man after My heart.”

This is why we love the imperfect David. We see a part of ourselves in him. No matter our past, our ever-changing emotions, our disappointments, or our defeats, we want the same God who remained faithful to David to remain faithful to us.
And we want to be faithful back.

We long to approach the throne of Almighty God in the same way that David did — uninhibited, without reservation, and with a sincere heart full of genuine praise.
And when we do, we will become women after God’s heart.

Summer is a popular beach time. If you’re not ther Summer is a popular beach time. If you’re not there, picture yourself on a beach at sunrise. Pink, yellow, orange, and purple blend across the sky. The ocean is calm, its surface like shiny glass as the sun’s rays reflect on it. Your eyes look to the never-ending horizon, and you wonder what is on the other side.

You glance to your right. People walk along the shoreline. Some children frolic in the waves. To your left, pet owners toss a Frisbee to their dogs. On the highest point along the beach sits a sandcastle, that survived the evening’s high tide.
The sand extends as far as you can see to the right and to the left.

Scientist Robert Krulwich reports, “If you assume a grain of sand has an average size, and you calculate how many grains are in a teaspoon and then multiply by all the beaches and deserts in the world, the Earth has roughly (and we’re speaking very roughly here) 7.5 x 10 to the 18th power grains of sand, or seven quintillion, five hundred quadrillion grains.”

I can’t even write that number.

The point is, when God says His thoughts about us are more numerous than the sand on the beaches, He’s declaring He thinks about us a whole lot. The thought is unfathomable. But try to wrap your mind around that fact for a few minutes.

The intentional statement made by Sovereign God in Psalm 139:17-18 is so profound that it requires an incredible amount of faith to take Him at His word.

When He says He thinks about us, He means He never takes a break. We can live well today and sleep soundly tonight. God is thinking about YOU and about every single thing that concerns YOU.

Got a problem? When dealing with problems, I have Got a problem?
When dealing with problems, I have two questions I ask myself:
1. What does God want me to learn?
2. What does God want to do through me?
We can handle trials and hardships in a way that honors God and allows for personal growth.
You’re shining!
