The Fragrance of Christ
Can you smell it? Evergreens, cinnamon, peppermint, and ginger—some of the aromas of Christmas. What scent identifies to whom we belong?
Second Corinthians 2:14–15 tells us, “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place . . . For we are a fragrance of Christ.”
The Gospel message is like incense diffused everywhere. Those who live for Christ share the Gospel and emit His love. This lovely fragrance rises up to God. Those who reject Christ reject the fragrance and the result is death. But those who receive the gospel become the fragrance of new life in Christ. The more we become like Christ, the more we become the fragrance of this new life. Can others smell the fragrance of Christ in us?
Today, let’s ask God to help us be a sweet-smelling aroma to others.
