Change

If there’s one thing we can count on, it’s change. The changing seasons bring outstanding beauty and fresh opportunity. Technology changes the way we communicate, what we see, and how doctors treat our illnesses. Fashion trends and hairstyles evolve. Our health changes. Our skin reveals the decades with wrinkles and age spots. Family meals change based on who shows up to eat. Our personal desires, plans, long-and-short-term goals must be modified.

 Change is inevitable. No one is unaffected.

 Except God.

From the beginning of time as we know it, God has remained unchanged — a constant being. Completely consistent. His love for us is steadfast. His pursuit of us hasn’t changed. His mercy flows without end. His promises haven’t been retracted. His grace continues.

 • “I, the Lord, do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.”  (Malachi 3:6)

 • “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

 • “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent; has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19)

• “You founded the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands. Even they will perish, but You endure; and all of them will wear out like a garment; like clothing You will change them and they will be changed. But You are the same, and Your years will not come to an end.” (Psalm 102:25–27)

 God doesn’t have to change His ways or His mind because He doesn’t make mistakes. What He spoke to men and women in the Bible, He speaks to us today.

Believe it. Don’t give up or lose hope. God hasn’t changed His mind about our worth, or our purpose. He’s not fed up with our ever-changing moods and desires. God stays true to His character and His standards. Remember, “The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind.” (Psalm 110:4)
